- The North West chair claims that Dlamini-Zuma will win the presidency
- He claims that Ramaphosa's supporters are switching sides
- The conference almost collapsed due to irregularities with accreditation
Supra Mahumapelo, North West ANC Chair, has revealed that Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma will win the ANC presidency.
Briefly.co.za has learned that this is because, according to Mahumapelo, ANC members who supported Cyril Ramaphosa are switching sides and supporting Dlamini-Zuma.
He claims that they have had extensive meetings with Ramaphosa supporters and have convinced them to support Dlamini-Zuma according to news24.com.
The ANC conference nearly collapsed but was saved by last minute emergency meetings called by the NEC.
Accreditation issues were causing the biggest headache and according to Baleka Mbete and Ramphosa the creditionals of the delegates needed 'clearning up'.
Tampering with branch delegates and legal challenges may have caused the conference to end prematurely.
Dlamini-Zuma has suffered a blow with many delegates being barred from attending the conference after a number of court actions in KZN, Free State and North West.
The total number of losses to Dlamini-Zuma was 218 compared to Ramaphosa's 46.
